Thank you, that will work.
I was hoping to create a template to apply to hundreds of applications per view, but I guess I can manually select the group.

Hey Tdanner,
Is there a way to do this via swql? I would like to automate the population of group custom property.
It looks like if I add a new field and apply to the custom property, then I need to edit the custom object resource to select the new field to display.
I have been attempting to setup my SolarWinds server to do CAC/PKI log in. I have followed the instructions in the document SETUP SMART CARD (CAC/PKI) USER AUTHENTICATION FOR ORION WEB CONSOLE. I was able to do everything and then when I reach the point where I do the SSL settings, I require SSL and require client certificates I start having problems. When I log in using the FQDN, I get the pop up verifying my CAC info and to put in my PIN. As soon as I go through that, it fails and I get an HTTP 403 error. If I use Accept client certificates, it goes through the authentication multiple times and when I ignore, it will verify against my CAC, then I will still have to log in. Once I am in, after about 5 minutes of inactivity, the page drops and I have to log in again. At this point, I have to close the browser to clear the cache and then try to re-access the site. Does anyone have any ideas? The only roll back is that I to not require SSL and then I can log in normally again.

Browser being used is Windows Edge
I think byrona will have some good feedback.
Thank you everyone for the feedback. zackm I love the detail. I wanted to check with you on point 7 you brought up:
Have you tried the following? View UnDP status on maps and Define UnDP Warning and Critical thresholds
This should allow you to specify thresholds for the UnDPs which will reflect status in an Atlas Map. In summary: Settings > Thresholds & Polling > Custom Poller Thresholds -
That's some good stuff!
Thanks for sharing, I would mention though that this is still limited to thresholds per a poller type, and not per poller.
e.g.;
Threshold for RemoteTemp NOT threshold for RemoteTemp on NodeA and a different threshold for RemoteTemp on NodeB
So, while this definitely addresses item 7 in my list; it also spawns a replacement.
aLTeReGo im on SAM 6.4 and i am still experiencing this issue.
Im going to lodge a support ticket but saw this and thought i would provide an update here as well
support case #1184827
That is correct. ClearOS/VM is just CentOS under the hood with an nice webUI for administration. You'd want to use the Linux Agent to monitor it. However, certain specifics of that ClearOS may or may not be readily available via SNMP out of the box. e.g. If you're using it for DNS, it should be be leverage BIND under the hood. So you'd most likely want to find a Bind template. Certain firewall modules use IP Tables, so you'd want to find a template for that.
If there isn't a template that you can find it would have to be a custom linux script in bash/python/perl.
I plan on installing Orion NPM, and a number of other modules (SAM, NTA, NCM, VNQM, & UDT) . However, because of UDT, i cannot install on Windows Server 2016, and have to use Server 2012 R2. I'd really like to use Server 2016 if possible. I know Solarwinds doesn't hand out any dates, but i don't see new OS support listed on any roadmap. Can anyone give me any info at all?
Thanks!
Very nice. Good job.
You'd just have to modify the script and use sudo for whichever command requires it.
I did more digging this afternoon and it appears that all the version I want to watch are in the SNMP OIDs so I am good to go.
I will be using NPM with some type of an alert on change
Thank You Curtisi;
The folks that deployed the VDI desktops found something was not happening due to a script being blocked at user logoff which did not clean the certs before the system was cloned for the next user.
We did have knowledge of the include Agent in a Windows image doc.
Thanks Again!
Thanks;
You are batting 1.000 today!
Steve
In relation to SAM specifically, that module already has this kind of alerting logic built into the component thresholds.
The only limiting factor in your request is that the tool doesn't let you use more than 60 polls in a set, so to do a 24 hour period I had to spread the polls out to once every 30 minutes, which ends up being 48 polls.
AND has a lab environment. If you might fit that bill we'd not only be forever grateful to you, but, we'd probably have some UX All Star socks and bandanas, and maybe even more special swag just for you. Message me directly at kellie.mecham@solarwinds.com for more info--and a pony! (ok, maybe not a pony).
After working with support, we figured out that, too many concurrent logins will cause the error. Each monitor is a separate login, and it logs in every 300 seconds. It eventually has ton of sessions, that have not timed out, so it blocks the polling. Since there is no way to tweak login timeouts per account on ironports, the change needs to be on script. I've tried modding the end of the script to "logout", but have been unsuccessful. Any ideas on how to make it logout?
Instead of a multiple object chart, why not try creating a separate chart for each object, saves you having to click on the view options then. This might be a workaround until you can get the multiple object charts working.
Database activity monitoring is targetted at those whose main focus is security. DAM looks for malicious activity within databases and provides auditing information. DPA is much more focussed on performance, analysing bottlenecks and giving you DBA abilities without being a DBA.
If I am understanding what you are asking then the below should help.
1. Click on "Manage Nodes"
2. Change "Group By" filter to "Location" or whichever method you want to group your nodes.
3. Select the location/filter you want to work with and click the check boxes you wish to work with.
4. Once all of the nodes you want to work with are selected you should be able to click the more actions in the top and choose rediscover.
Let me know if you have any questions or if this wasn't what you were asking.
