I am investigating this but so far I have been unable to reproduce the issue.
Can you please confirm that you clicked the Save Settings button on the right side of the page after entering the static IP address?
When you changed the IP address method from DHCP to static, did you change the URL in your web browser at that time? The Virtual Appliance Management Interface (VAMI) does not automatically redirect to the new URL when the IP address is changed so if you do not remember having to reload the VAMI URL in your browser, I suspect you did not click the Save Settings button.
Please try these steps:
1) Visit the VAMI webpage (https://192.168.c.d:5480) and login
2) Click the Network tab
3) Click the Address button
4) Re-enter the static IP address information, gateway, netmask, and DNS servers
5) Click the Save Settings button on the right side of the page.
6) The browser will timeout reloading the VAMI page because the IP address changed. Please enter the new URL https://192.168.c.d:5480/ (where 192.168.c.d is the new static IP address) and login
7) Click the Network tab
8) Take a screenshot of the VAMI->Network->Status page. Confirm the current runtime settings match what you entered.
9) Click the System tab
10) Click the Reboot button
11) Once the system reboots, look at the VMware Console for the VM and note the IP address on the blue-screen (vami_login). You can also see this IP address in vSphere Client on the summary tab of the VM information pane.
12) Follow the link displayed in the blue screen by entering the URL into your web browser. (https://192.168.c.d:5480 where 192.168.c.d is the static IP address you previously entered)
13) Login to VAMI
14) Click the Network tab
15) Take a screenshot of the Status page
If these instructions break down anywhere, please let me know which step failed and attach screenshots of the errors.
Thank you,
Benjamin
