What was life like before using SolarWinds? (Include what you were using and why you decided it was time for a change)
I have working in IT industry since 2000. When I started in monitoring practice we worked hard with X stuff, MRTG, RRDTOOL, NetSaint, Nagios, etc. Also, my team have some experience with SNMPc, WUG, PRTG, etc.
But, when we are able to invest in robust and easy to maintain software, we choose NPM.
Which SolarWinds product(s) saved your bacon?
After NPM, our projects has been expanded to APM(SAM), NCM and NTA.
It's incredible the look and feel of these tools. Easy to understand and configure. Easy to build reports and custom views.
Did you consider other options, and why did you choose SolarWinds?
We are IT consultants in IT Operations, we considered tools from CA or continue with some X tool (like Zabbix or Zenoss).
But, our evaluation team choose SW after my best demonstration.
How has life been since you've rolled out SolarWinds in your environment?
Great! I'm SCP, this credential enforce my skills and monitoring experience. Our team was very satisfied with Solarwinds performance and capabilities.
After some time, everybody loves NPM and SAM.
