I set up a testing instance of SAM 6.1 Beta2 primarily to test out the Task Scheduler monitoring. I do not have an Exchange server in my environment so there's no reason for me to try it out... First, I really like the way I can drag around elements in the Node Details page to rearrange them.
Task Scheduler monitoring is working fine but I was hoping it could do more.
- I have a lot of Scheduled Tasks on various servers in my environment and was hoping for a way to make a single View displaying the status of Scheduled Tasks on all servers. It seems to be tied forever to the Node Details View, though. Is there a way to change this?
- I wish it would have been able to display the duration of the task the last time it ran so I could see if tasks are taking longer to complete than in the past.
- Another big one would have been a way to detect jobs not starting when they should have according to their defined schedule. Maybe in 6.2? The reason is that sometimes tasks don't start due to a server being offline, or a previous hourly run of a task taking longer than one hour, etc.
- It should catch newly created and deleted jobs due to the normal polling of the Application. Is there a way to alert on those events? Like, get an email for "New Task on server XYZ created at" or "Task ABC was deleted on server"?
The above notwithstanding, this will still be a huge benefit for us! Thanks!!
