I was hoping this was possible, but I have no idea how it would work.
Our naming convention for our network nodes goes something like this:
XXX_EBN_12_1ST_FL.otherinfo.worth.noting
XXX_EBN_450.otherinfo.worth.noting
Over the years, the 'otherinfo.worth.noting' has changed quite a bit. I want to run a script change the hostname to make only that portion the same across all nodes. Since it requires the first part to remain the same, I'm lost at even knowing if this can be done. This would need to work with Cisco and unfortunately Brocade. It wouldn't surprise me if Brocade wouldn't work right regardless lol. I'm still learning NCM and this is one of the first things that my leadership wants changed across the board. I have no experience with scripts.
Any help or guidance is much appreciated? This would save me from having to manually log into almost 500 network nodes.
