Upgraded and still not working

I've yet to get this thing to kick off. I'm reading some exciting information about this product but I keep getting connection refused no matter what account properties I set or connectors I try. Is there some way to trouble shoot this that I'm missing? I've tried raw connection to my exchange server, owa, and outlook and all accounts I've tried thus far work without flaw or fail. Yet every time I put in the information for them as one normally would or as another user suggested as <domain><username><mailbox>, all leads back to connection refused. What is Alert Central Beta doing that I'm getting what should be an open connection refused by my server?
